The Asset Plan is a document that shows how Council will plan for, build, look after and use its assets to provide services to the community. The Asset Plan will help Council make informed decisions about its assets now and over the next 10 years.

Council is responsible for managing and maintaining community assets. This means Council needs to manage assets in a way that best serves the community now, and for future generations. The Asset Plan will demonstrate:

• How our assets support the achievement of our Community Vision and Council Plan
• Various challenges and opportunities for our assets and what the city plans to do about these
• How we will manage and our assets now and into the future

The Asset Plan will be a key Council document along with the Community Vision, Council Plan and Financial Plan and is a key requirement under the Local Government Act, under which we operate.

Community feedback through the development of the Council Plan, Community Vision and Road Management Plan has helped inform the Asset Plan.

Further community engagement will be carried out when Council develops the individual asset plans for the Plan’s sub areas in the future.

The Asset Plan lasts for 10 years. Council will review the Plan every 4 years after each Local Government election, to keep it up to date as our community, economy and environment change.

An endorsed Asset Plan by Council is legislatively required to be adopted by Council by 30 June 2022.
